Getting started
What is Racket Captain?
Racket Captain is a league-management app for racket sports. Captains set up recurring match groups and series; the app handles sign-ups, RSVPs, court assignments, standings, and reminders automatically. Players just show up and play.
Which sports does it support?
Tennis, pickleball, and padel — with event formats built for racket-sports group play, including americano and progressive series, plus court-movement systems like court ladder, leapfrog, and full reseed.
What devices does it run on?
iPhone, Android, and any modern web browser. Players mostly live on their phones; many captains also run their groups from a desktop browser for the bigger screen.
For players
How do I join my team?
Your captain shares an invite link or QR code. Tap it, create your free account, and you're on the roster in seconds — no paperwork, no spreadsheet.
Is Racket Captain free for players?
Yes — playing is always free. You can join venues and unlimited match groups, RSVP, see your court and standings, and chat with your team at no cost.
How do RSVPs and reminders work?
Each event sends automatic reminders by push notification, email, or text — including a final last-call. You RSVP yes or no and can change your answer until the deadline. Once the captain sets the lineup, you'll see your court and matchup. You can also sync your matches to Apple or Google Calendar.
What if I can't make a match?
Decline the RSVP before the deadline and the app plans around you. Groups that allow substitutes can have an available sub step in for the night, so the courts stay full.
For captains
What do I get with The Captain plan?
Full captain tools on web and mobile: build a series from the template library, set your rules once (sport, format, skill, capacity), and run up to 3 simultaneous active match groups — add more anytime for $3/month per group. The app generates lineups and court assignments, tracks standings with a movement ledger, and runs your notification cycle for you.
How much ongoing work is running a series?
Very little — that's the point. Recurring events send their own invitations, reminders, and last-calls; assignments and standings update automatically as results come in. You review and approve, and action badges flag anything that actually needs you.
Which formats and movement systems are supported?
Series formats include americano and progressive play, with more in the catalog. Between events, players can move by court ladder, leapfrog, or full reseed — and the standings show exactly why each player moved.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel anytime, and everything you built is preserved — your groups, rosters, and history stay intact. Chat and roster management remain open, and you can subscribe again later to start or resume a series right where you left off.
For clubs
What does the Clubs plan include?
For $25/month, give your coaches and play coordinators Captain's control: support up to 3 Club Captains, each running up to 3 simultaneous match groups (add more for $3/month per group). You also get the club dashboard for oversight across venues, captains, teams, and events, member-affiliation approvals, venue broadcasts to all your players, and moderators for the conversation.
How does venue registration and verification work?
Register your venue in the app — courts, hours, and access — and verify it against its Google listing to create a validated venue profile. Verified venues are the definitive record players see, and member affiliations to your venue route to you for approval.
